The NZA
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « as for the Hulk: he hasnt been where they sent him since Planet Hulk began earlier this year. This arc, "Armageddon" should be eventful in a few months, we all gotta wait & see what Hulk's gonna do when he decides to return. Tony's got Sentry, i kinda assumed that earlier on. The good thing is that, just like he said in New Avengers # 24, Sentry's reluctant to go all-out...if the rebels can get back some of the prisoners or pull a heavy hitter or two, theyre back in the game. ...christ knows that X-Men: Civil War book didnt tell me dick. Sure, its cool that the Xavier grounds are now like an indian reservation for muties, but they still havnet picked a fucking side yet, except for bishop and nice lnk tho 2T, those morbius-haters. The NZA
so yeah, all caught up, sans Thunderbolts and a few odd books. This thing's still going strong, and Planet Hulk is nowhere near being invovled in any way. I was curious about the Annihilation storyline - im not normally into the cosmic shit, but its got good reviews.
Jables
Man, fuck Annihilation. Space is balls. That worst CW banner though? I thought that said I'm with your mother in her final moments, & coupled with the pic I was just cuh-ringing as I'm sure you can imagine. I made this massive & dare I say brilliant post earlier about CW, and I forget how now but I lost it. Oh that's right, I tried to copy & paste from google 'cause I hadda change pages & instead pasted a customer's a/c details. I was gutted to say the least. The NZA
you read much of ahnialliation? really? i think i read the prologue (it was huge) and stopped there. try again for the big CW post tho man, im down to hear more about your pro-reg fucks. Jables
Here's the US$499 version minus an incredibly witty joke about spoilers & dolphins. But this one'll do. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Frank Castle's more hated in the Marvel U than Doom because he's flat-out creepy. Him joining their ranks is a serious wake-up for a lotta people. They're wondering if this really IS what it's come to, insomuch before to my point of him being a complete sociopath as to now where I realise that in terms of the law, he's about as fucked as it gets. He does the work noone wants to do but partially agree has to be done, and legally he wears the mark of Cain. When you're standing shoulder-to with something like that, you start to think you may've taken a wrong turn somewhere. And Cap too, you can see this whole ordeal wearing him down, & I won't be suprised if the rebels go the way of the Walking Dead » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « in terms of leadership- bear in mind I've not read past #24 or something. As it is I saw a moment like that in #5 now. As for DD's burn, what I said was security must be shit if they're just handing shit held by prisoners onto leadership like that. Checked or not, we're talking a scary class of genius here, & nano-bombs or viruses designed to react to Tony's DNA isn't implausible. Aside from that I'm pretty much taking it for granted that DD's capture is a foil, and that silver dollar is gonna do something cool(everyone knows Stark is the souveneer(sp) type. That about covers it in a less-winding fashion. Maybe this was for the better. Except for that dolphin joke. I wish I could remember that dolphin joke. The NZA
Nice. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « alright, i can see Frank being a wake-up call, but how much more awake can the rebels get? "Right, so i cant go home and feed my cat, a few of us who know where this secret base is just defected, which earns me an indefinite spot inna negative zone soon...oh, and Thor just fucking killed a friend of mine. Never you mind that the pro-reg side is now using Bullseye, Venom and our other enemies to hunt/kill me, too.. But in walks a guy who kills people like that, brining a A-level player like Spidey in, offers to break into the Baxter building for us...why, i think itll get sanctimonious right now and tell him to piss off, that'll fix things!" I'm sorry; if i was a 3rd string Avenger like Kid Moon Knight or something, and i was being hunted by a homicidal Thor, cape-killers, Lady Deathstrike & friends, The fucking Sentry & more former allies? The Punisehr is my best friend right now, and im sharing my cheese sticks with him. i weep for dolphin jokes lost.
archangel
Yea, that's pretty much the way I saw it, too. They don't much have a choice right now. Aside from Frank, who do they have? The Mutants? All, what, 12 of them?
Jables
I'll have you know there's 198! No, wait, there was Apocalypse, and... you get the idea. Nick- » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This isn't about who's got who & knows what. For one they change bases like, every week for that very reason & two, they're fighting for what's right. Piety's a powerful thing man, and that's not only why the rebels, or underdogs will always get the support from an audience, but it's also their power. They have Jesus/the force/Romita on their side. Team Pro are fighting with their heads & hearts, but I guarantee you they're less fanatical than the rebels(in spite of their own self-doubt). This equates to roughly to say, your gov't being overthrown by a well-meaning dictatorship where you'll be housed & better looked after in exchange for a few civil liberties you've always taken for granted(maybe a curfew, being registered in a more comprehensive Gov't database, and if you've a criminal record, this may or may not be set in the public domain(= secret identity rego. It's a lot harder to equate since we're not all cops). You arc up & set yourself against this suddenly finding yourself fighting for your life against not only this government, but also a few of your countrymen. Ostensibly there are casualties, but you're fighting for your children here, for those who can't get up & fight for themselves & most of all, you're fighting 'cause you can't cope with significant change(Withdrawn your honour, speculation on the prosecution's part ). Next thing you know Adolf Hitler Osama Bin Laden & a gang of child-rapists offer not only their aide, but their complete allegiance because your cause is theirs. I'm not saying nor expecting the rebels to not accept Castle's aide, but tell me there wouldn't be a waitaminute moment there.
Lycaon
I'll have you know there's 198! No, wait, there was Apocalypse, and... you get the idea. There are aproximately 198 (I don't think that included that X teams, mutants from other countries, or those that never decided to seek sanctuary at the mansion. Jables
well why call it the 198 then? I honestly picked that to be the single-most intriguing piece of marketing on an X-book since the Claremont relaunch back in 2000(revolution X?). HoM & The Witch's move was just a gimmick to me. I know things aren't always going to be like that, but the idea that suddenly having an X-gene put you on a roster. The idea of there being a set number that are known or-yet-to-be-known mutants left on the planet was just friggin' fabulous. They could be dicks or they could be cool. It made that X-gene so much more precious. Well so much for that I guess.

Because 198 refers to the mutants that ended up seeking sanctuary on the mansion grounds (and ended up being forced to stay in a camp on grounds "for their own protection"). That series was about them specifically.
Jables
Bah. Sounds like shit. Though both Wolvy & Brian K. Vaughan have it wrong too: I quote the man in Yellow from #9-10(i forget which) of Runaways(available at all good stores near you) with "198 mutants left & she had to be one of them." Reffering to Molly(one of those rascally runaways!!).
