The NZA
Id agree, but then i couldnt pic out a part of "One Mic" to post, and no one rightfully looked at that long list. Then again, youd have to A) Hear the song and B) At least kinda dig rap to appreciate the levels it works on anyway; i mean, if its fuckin great poetry but its in death metal or even punk i prolly wont go for it. Hebrews born to serve, to the pharaoh Heed To his every word, live in fear Faith Of the unknown one, the deliverer Wait Something must be done, four hundred years So let it be written So let it be done I'm sent here by the chosen one So let it be written So let it be done To kill the first born pharaoh son I'm creeping death Now Let my people go, land of goshen Go I will be with thee, bush of fire Blood Running red and strong, down the nile Plague Darkness three days long, hail to fire So let it be written So let it be done I'm sent here by the chosen one So let it be written So let it be done To kill the first born pharaoh son I'm creeping death Die by my hand (DIE! King of Snake
"Doh ray mi, assholes!" - The Dudley Corporation, Score "Trace your outline in my bed Place my hand where you'd rest your head The cotton's cold and I can only hold Your body in my memory" - The Dudley Corporation, One In A Squillion "When I learn I'll start to attack The city that's built me, this city that laughs At every plan I've ever tried to make I'll pull it apart, I'll tear off its face And watch it kick and scream and plead The ambulance will go mee maw, mee maw, mee maw, mee maw, mee maw" - The Dudley Corporation, A Song Against The City
dinghy
Bon Jovi is cool, but I would certainly not say everything of theirs is good. Always and It's My Life come to mind. Well you know, I was careful enough not to declare that everything they did was good. I said instead that I liked everything. "-Standing in the rain with his head hung low couldn't get a ticket it was a sold out show Heard the roar of the crowd he could picture the scene put his ear to the wall and like a distant scream he heard one guitar!! blew him away! saw stars in his eyes and the very next day he bought a beat up six string...." JunkerSeed
Random lyrics from what I drove home listening to.. "And just outside I can heard the sounds of the early morning street becoming way too loud and the hum of the engines of the cars on the street, yeah on the street And with this cigarette that I just lit as I pass the 53rd St. Bridge Right now the world just seems too big so sit down and remind me how this is the same old story of growing up and getting lost." Less than Jake - Help save the youth of america form exploding "Got on the 47, transferred to the 89 left town eastbound past all the city signs and y'know sometimes it's hard to leave your past behind and as I pass the crummy bars and beat up cars nothing's gonna change my mind this time By now you think I've found that things changed, just don't look that way to me by now you think I've found that things change, and look rearranged to me it never used to look that me." Less Than Jake - Five State Drive Which directly relates to.... "She says it's so funny how life burns out so fast it's just another wasted day A boring life in a boring town with the same old crowd and I used to say that I'd never stay but I'm rotting here today With that same old crowd that's always been around and I always thought I'd be the first to go That same old crowd that brings me down another day in a boring town" Less than jake - History of a boring town And um, I promise I'm almost done, one of the best breakup songs you can listen to "It's for the better your better half is gone its O.K. you didn't need her anyway and I don't want to hear you say nobody can take her place and what more can I say you didn't need her anyways So you think of how it should've been and "it's just over" keeps going through your head you're hearing all those words time and time again watch the phone all night and think about what you should've said. It's for the better your better half is gone" Less Than Jake - Great American Sharpshooter
JunkerSeed
Hmm, come on, I know we've got more good lyrics than that... oh well, I'll keep posting some anyway, here's another quick radiohead snippet that's been in my mind. "I wrapped you inside my coat When they came to firebomb the house I didn't feel pain, 'cause no-one can touch me Now that I'm held in your spell A beautiful girl A beautiful girl Can turn your world into dust..." MyLeakyBucket
I'm being serious with this one, one of my fave songs on a soundtrack. As I went down to the river to pray Thinking about those good ol' ways Oh who shall wear the robe and crown? Good Lord show me the way Oh sinners lets go down Lets go down come on down Oh sinners lets go down Down to the river to pray. - Alison Krauss, Down to the river to pray
The NZA
This whole song's great.. "They say music can alter moods, and talk to you But can it load a gun for you, and cock it too? Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude Just tell the judge it was my fault, and i'll get sued.." - Eminem, Sing for the Moment
JunkerSeed
Here's one I learned how to play today Just when you thought I was out of radiohead stuff to post... Street Spirit (Fade out) - Radiohead "Rows of houses all bearing down on me I can feel their blue hands touching me All these things into position All these things we'll one day swallow whole And fade out again and fade out This machine will not communicate These thoughts and the strain I am under Be a world child, form a circle Before we all go under And fade out again and fade out again Cracked eggs, dead birds Scream as they fight for life I can feel death, can see it's beady eyes All these things into position All these things we'll one day swallow whole And fade out again and fade out again"
BigChiefSlapaho
And, when you gonna realize I'm the best you had? Now you sittin' at home & you've got it bad. Oh! I'm-a get nice and move slow. So drink some prune juice & let the shit go. - Ludacris f Usher - REMIX - U Don't Have To Call Sorry, not the world's greatest lyrics, but perfect timing for me right about now. JunkerSeed
umm, I guess I'll try to jumpstart this again because I think it's a good thread. Here's a standout line from one of the many songs I heard tonight as I drove all over the fuckin place... "Pledge your grievance to the flag, 'cause ya don't give blood then take it back again..." Take Me To Your Lizard
A song I'm always impressed with, every damn time I hear it, is Billy Joel's Piano Man. It's got great lyrics and real poetic meaning. Here's a bit: 'And the waitress is practicing politics As the businessmen slowly get stoned Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness But it's better than drinkin' alone ... Chorus ... It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday And the manager gives me a smile 'Cause he knows that it's me they've been comin' to see To forget about life for a while And the piano, it sounds like a carnival And the microphone smells like a beer And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar And say, "Man, what are you doin' here?"' -Billy Joel, Piano Man. Reverend Jax
If there has EVER been more catchy lyrics (not necesarily good or inspired, just straight up catchy) than these, I've never heard them: And I said what about breakfast at tiffany's she said i think i remember the film and as i recall i think we both kinda liked it and i said well that's the one thing we got Get out of my head! Take Me To Your Lizard
Oh man Breakfast at Tiffany's I haven't heard that in a while *fires up Kazaa Lite*. I thought I'd post these, from Bruce Springsteen's The River. Maybe it's just me, but there is something really striking about these lines. They are really evocative and downright erotic, to me anyway. "Now I just act like I don't remember Mary acts like she don't care But I remember us riding in my brother's car Her body tanned and wet down at the reservoir At night on them banks I'd lie awake And pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take." The 'tanned and wet' bit always leaps out at me whenever I listen to the song. I think you probably have to listen to him sing it to get what I'm on about, but hey. JunkerSeed
When this song comes on, you know that everybody is singing along... "Early in the morning, risin' to the street Light me up that cigarette and I strap shoes on my feet Got to find a reason, a reason things went wrong Got to find a reason why my money's all gone But I got a dalmatian and I can still get high I can play the guitar like a mother fuckin riot... Life's too short so love the one you got, cause you might get runover or you might get shot Never start no static, I just get it off my chest. Never had to battle with no bulletproof vest. Take a small example A tip from me take all of your money and give it up to charity Lovin's what I got It's within my reach And the sublime style's still straight from long beach It all comes back to you you're gonna get what you deserve Try and test that you're bound to get served Love's what I got Don't start a riot You feel it when the dance gets hot..." the division of joy
Megadeth - Reckoning day I like the way that I make you itch And all the reasons I give you to bitch And how I make you wanna scream in pain And feel your life is just a losing game I like the way that you let me in The way you look when the walls cave in I like the way that your stomach knots And how you cry for it all to stop I like the way that you fool yourself And make believe there's nobody else I like the way that you stand in line And beg salvation from the empty skies Don't want no revenge Ain't no pay back time It ain't called getting even Here comes the reconing day I like the things that you try to fake And your face when I see you break And that you say you will pray for me You realize you are prey for me I like the way you stay on attack No matter what, I keep coming back And how you try to hold me down But you end up driven to the ground Don't want no revenge (don't want no revenge) Ain't no pay back time (Ain't no pay back time) It ain't called getting even (it ain't called getting even) Here comes the reconing Day! crimsonfire
Exodus - Sealed with a Fist The honeymoons over and the loves gone sour Her nagging has got you down But you picked the wrong way to deal with it You chose to slap her around When you exchanged your wedding vows Nobody said "you may now fist the bride" Now that the little woman went and got her gun The love ain't all that died Chorus: Jealousy She knows you can't live without it The bullet's speed Cutting right through all your bullshit Wedded bliss Begane for her when the bullet's hit Sixteen rounds in case she missed Sealed with a fist When she took your hand in marriage It didn't mean right across the face Small woman, big man, it takes a lot of guts You're just a pussy in the first place But now that your wedding chamber's The one the bullet's in Brave man, look at you, not so tough When the hammer's cockin' [Repeat Chorus] The little woman had all the shit that she could take Her intuition said "lock and load" He-man, what's your plan to get out of this She's gonna fill your ass with bullet holes Guess who's bigger when she's squeezing the trigger I got news, it isn't you When they carry your body out over the threshold You'll wish you never said "I do"
