  1. All right, Vista Verde Central, you called down the thunder, well now you got it! I'm a-comin down there tomorrow mornin'...uh, make that around 230 in the afternoon...and hell's comin' with me, ya hear?! Hell's comin' with me!!
  2. It's not quite required, but I'm rather enjoying Krueger & Alex Ross' Earth X seires...the trilogy has gone from that to Universe X to its current form, Paradise X, and its gotten quite interestin if youre into the Marvel mythology. Not as powerful as Kingdom Come, but very interestin nonetheless, has similarities in its idea of a future Marvel facing its end, etc. I'll post more on it when the series finally ends, a bit down the road. Anyone know any more about Moore's Vendetta?
  3. Man, i got 500 somethin channels, aint shit on. ---------------------------------------------------------- I rock the party that rocks the body. You heard.
  4. Ah. You should read X-Men: Omega, the ending to the Age of Apocalypse arc, had their showdown in it. Cool stuff, by Mark Waid, same guy as Kingdom Come.
  5. Courtesy of Chiefy a while back... Ok since Angelfire's being dickheads like usual, just try this - copy this adress into your browser & check it out, funny shit. Legend of Zelda: Further adventures of Link http://www.angelfire.com/ct2/imagepals/anim/zelda2.swf :link:
  6. Hear this one's a not-so-good movie... (A) Simple Plan
  7. Wasn't easy to find, but here it is kids: A bad Minority Report review!
  8. I actually dont know many chicks who go for Damon, to be honest...so, wait: you mean to say you think Pitt & others would be much better actors if they were hideously deformed? Why does them lookin good work against em, so long as that's not the only reason theyre being cast (like with Bandera's english acting, i think he's usually cast for eye candy or whatever, but not Pitt)?
  9. sidenote: Junker, other interested locals - I have the first 5 books of Lone Wolf & Cub here, as well as 5 of the 7 known Blade of the Immortal trades. The Akira stuff is Alex's, ive only got the first 3 of 6 until i finish em but he should be bringing the others on by soon, along with some GTO. KOS, MLB, etc - Any other recommendations?
  10. ...a complete sidenote from Junker's rant..... Yeah, fine, its a cliche notion, a la Professional, Replacement Killers, even Scarface amongst many others. You know what assasian doesnt give a fuck if a kid's present and, in fact, uses his own kid to take hits? Check out Lone Wolf & Cub, as mentioned in the manga thread over in Xavier's. Suprisngly good. Ill comment on this movie when i see it, but for what its worth i think Damon's better than a lotta folks give him credit for...still havta see "The Talented Mr Ripley".
  11. Blood of a slave, heart of a king... ..back to Monster's Ball, good so far...
  12. madman you slut, ive missed you & your wisdom so. Good points on Apocalypse. The different writers have fucked with him quite a bit over time, ive seen a few make him lil more than a joke, sadly. Anyway...like it or not, me & Yahven decided youre gettin a profile soon, whore! PS Jumbie why was the final showdown in "Age of Apocalypse" with him & Magneto such a copout?

    GTO

I have, at least the first 3 episodes anyway. Fuckin hilarious...actually gonna try to pick this one up, thanks to Spiffy & Chi-Chan for introducing me to it. Cant say much more than Yahven...just that the main character's a pervert who's decided to teach high school solely to look up girl's skirts and maybe find a bride 10 years younger than him or so... Funny shit. I'll post more on it as I see more episodes, cant wait tho.
  17. Been readin a bit of Manga lately (Japanese comics), noticed a few interesting things: the art is obviously more fast-paced & anime-ish, theyre a lot less afraid of violence & sex, and their books are larger & cheaper on the whole (over there anyway; after we import em they can cost a bit). I recall Warren Ellis, Scott Mcloud & others stressing some important points about their graphical style: they taught us to use a "blur" effect insted of motion lines to illustrate moving objects, its becoming our standard these days. In addition, Ellis points out that their books aren't envoleped by the superhero genre: there's plenty of drama, comedy, hentai (porn), etc. So i've taken up readin a few of the more famous ones, here's what i think so far: -Akira: Perhaps the most famous....Otomo's art is no less detailed here than in the anime, believe it or not. This guy's really good, there's a reason i've heard so much of him & seen him ripped off as much, as well. Much longer than the anime so far & has better characterization; ill say more on the plot when I finish it. Living up to the hype so far, for me anyway. (KOS - didnt your brother Jont mention another book by Otomo, think it was Domo or something?) -Lone Wolf & Cub: I plan on dedication an entire thread to this one when i've read more. Damn...no wonder KOS loves it so, this shit's great. Visuals are stunning, translation is excellent, and the plot seems really interestin thus far, but im only on the 1st book of 30-somethin so more on that later. -Blade of the Immortal: Another great Samurai book, also action-packed. I've got 5 trades of it so far, and again I'm not done (argh so much to read must get offa board), but the story's interestin. Also put out by Dark Horse comics, these guys are great. Anyway, short & sweet, with few plot details i know, but ill post more on em as i get further into these books; again, theyre huge. Feel free to post here on recommended manga series. :wasabi:
  18. ...I meant besides the obvious returning cast....
  19. Don't know how true it is, but interestin anyway. ------------------------------------------------------------ At the 1994 annual awards dinner given for Forensic Science, AAFS president Dr. Don Harper Mills astounded his audience with the legal complications of a bizarre death. Here is the story: On March 23, 1994 the medical examiner viewed the body of Ronald Opus and concluded that he died from a shotgun wound to the head. Mr.. Opus had jumped from the top of a ten story building intending to commit suicide. He left a note to that effect indicating his despondency. As he fell past the ninth floor his life was interrupted by a shotgun blast passing through a window which killed him instantly. Neither the shooter nor the decedent was aware that a safety net had been installed just below at the eighth floor level to protect some building workers and that Ronald Opus would not have been able to complete his suicide the way he had planned. Ordinarily, Dr. Mills continued, a person who sets out to commit suicide and ultimately succeeds, even though the mechanism might not be what he intended, is still defined as committing suicide. That Mr.. Opus was shot on the way to certain death, but probably would not have been successful because of the safety net, caused the medical examiner to feel that he had a homicide on his hands. The room on the ninth floor whence the shotgun blast emanated was occupied by an elderly man and his wife. They were arguing vigorously and he was threatening her with a shotgun. The man was so upset that when he pulled the trigger he completely missed his wife and the pellets went through the window, striking Mr.Opus. When one intends to kill subject A but kills subject B in the attempt, one is guilty of the murder of subject B. When confronted with the murder charge the old man and his wife were both adamant. They both said they thought the shotgun was unloaded. The old man said it was his long standing habit to threaten his wife with the unloaded shotgun. He had no intention to murder her. Therefore, the killing of Mr.Opus appeared to be an accident; that is, the gun had been accidentally loaded. The continuing investigation turned up a witness who saw the old couples son loading the shotgun about six weeks prior to the fatal accident. It transpired that the old lady had cut off her sons financial support and the son, knowing the propensity of his father to use the shotgun threateningly, loaded the gun with the expectation that his father would shoot his mother. Since the loader of the gun was aware of this, he was guilty of the murder even though he didn't actually pull the trigger. The case now becomes one of murder on the part of the son for the death of Ronald Opus. Now comes the exquisite twist. Further investigation revealed that the son was, in fact, Ronald Opus. He had become increasingly despondent over the failure of his attempt to engineer his mothers murder. This led him to jump off the ten story building on March 23rd, only to be killed by a shotgun blast passing through the ninth story window. The son had actually murdered himself, so the medical examiner closed the case as a suicide. (A true story from Associated Press, reported by Kurt Westervelt) ------------------------------------------------------------
  20. Ok, ok so we've prolly all heard/seen this one on an email before and it wasnt terribly great, but as a flash presentation, it was mildy funny, give it a go if you're bored. Yahven - i stand by my previous statement: Flash is for folks with too much time. You Don't Know Jack Shit
  21. One night, as a couple lay down for bed, the husband gently taps his wife on the shoulder and starts rubbing her arm. The wife turns over and says: "I'm sorry honey, I've got a gynecologist appointment tomorrow and I want to stay fresh." The husband, rejected, turns over and tries to sleep. A few minutes later, he rolls back over and taps his wife again. This time he whispers in her ear: "Do you have a dentist appointment tomorrow too?" ----------------------------------------------------------- A father watched his daughter playing in the garden. He smiled as he reflected on how sweet and innocent his little girl was. Suddenly she just stopped and stared at the ground. He went over to her and noticed she was looking at two spiders mating. "Daddy, what are those two spiders doing?" she asked "They're mating," her father replied. "What do you call the spider on top, Daddy?" she asked. "That's a Daddy Longlegs." Her father answered. "So, the other one is a Mommy Longlegs?" the little girl asked. "No," her father replied. "Both of them are Daddy longlegs." The little girl thought for a moment, then took her foot and stomped them flat. "Well, we're not having any of that shit in our garden." ----------------------------------------------------------- Two men are driving through Texas when they get pulled over by a State trooper. The cop walks up and taps on the window with his nightstick. The driver rolls down the window and WHACK, the cop smacks him in the head with the stick. The driver asks, "What the hell was that for?" The cop answers, "You're in Texas son. When we pull you over, you better have your license ready when we get to your car." The driver says, "I'm sorry, Officer, I'm not from around here." The cop runs a check on the guy's license, and he's clean. He gives the guy his license back, walks around to the passenger side, and taps on the window. The passenger rolls down the window and WHACK, the cop smacks him on the head with the nightstick. The passenger asks, "What'd you do that for?" The cop says, "Just making your wish come true." The passenger asks, "Making what wish come true?" The cop says, "I know that two miles down the road you're gonna say to your buddy, 'I wish that asshole would've tried that shit with me!'' ------------------------------------------------------------ This is the transcript of the ACTUAL radio conversation of a US naval ship with Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October 1995.
